The alarm didn't ring
Shabbat Wake is carefully tested, but Android settings, permissions, sound files, or device behavior can sometimes prevent an alarm from working as expected.
Troubleshooting
Shabbat Wake is carefully tested, but Android settings, permissions, sound files, or device behavior can sometimes prevent an alarm from working as expected.
The first place to check is:
Drawer → Help & Info → Recent alarms
Recent alarms shows the latest alarm activity and can help identify what happened.
Check the alarm volume
Shabbat Wake uses the phone's alarm volume, the same volume used by the built-in Android alarm app.
If the alarm volume is set to zero or very low, the alarm may have fired without being heard.
Check that the alarm is enabled
Open the alarm and confirm that it is still switched on.
Check the selected sound
If a custom sound is used, make sure the file is still available and can be played.
Custom sounds should always be tested before Shabbat.
For more details, see A custom alarm sound isn't playing.
Check whether app data was cleared
Using Help & Info → Reset app data removes saved app data, including configured alarms.
If app data was reset, the alarms need to be created again.
If alarms worked before and then stopped
Android may put apps to sleep when they are not opened regularly. This can interfere with alarm scheduling on some devices.
See Alarms worked before but stopped working.
If the phone recently changed time zones
After travelling to another country or changing the phone's time zone, open Shabbat Wake at least once so the schedule can be refreshed.
See The alarm didn't work after changing time zones.
Beta or custom Android versions
Shabbat Wake is tested on official Android releases. Beta Android versions, custom ROMs, heavily modified system software, or manufacturer-specific power management can behave differently.
Still not working?
Open:
Drawer → Help & Info → Send Error Log
This sends technical information that can help diagnose the problem.
If the problem continues, see Shabbat Wake still isn't working correctly.
As a last resort, Drawer → Help & Info → Reset app data restores the app to its initial state. This also removes saved alarms and settings.
